Search Committee holds interaction with candidates, panel to be submitted on Monday

Srinagar, Apr 4: The Search Committee constituted by the J&K Government on Friday held interaction of the candidates shortlisted for the post of Chairman JK Board of School Education (BOSE) and Director J&K State Council of Educational Research and Trainings (SCERT).

The interaction was held at civil Secretariat Jammu wherein the search committee headed by its Chairman interacted with the 15 candidates shortlisted for the post of Chairman JKBOSE and Director SCERT. "All the members interacted with candidates and posed a few questions to them. The members will submit their remarks about the candidates individually and submit it to the Chairman of the committee," a top official informed Greater Kashmir.

He said that the Chairman of the search committee, on the basis of the remarks of the individual members, will finalise three to five names each for the post of Chairman JKBOSE and Director SCERT. "Later the panel of candidates will be submitted to the government for final selection," the official said. As already reported by this newspaper, the J&K Government in December last year reconstituted a search committee for recommending the panel of the candidates for the appointment as Chairman JKBOSE and the Director J&K SCERT.

The committee is headed by Administrative Secretary Agricultural Production Department as its chairman while the Administrative Secretary of School Education Department (SED), GAD and Higher Education Department (HED) are its members. The other two members of the search committee include Vice Chancellor University of Kashmir (KU) and Vice Chancellor University of Jammu (JU).

"After consolidating the remarks of the committee members, the search committee will submit the panel to the Additional Chief Secretary of the School Education Department (SED). Later, the final selection will be approved by the government for both the positions," the official said.

A top official said the panel of candidates will be submitted on Monday for further process. "It will not take much time for the government to appoint a new chairman for JKBOSE and Director SCERT," the official said. Presently, Financial Commissioner Education Department Shantmanu is holding the additional charge of Chairman JKBOSE and Director SCERT, in addition to his own duties. The notification in this regard was issued by the government on March 1 of 2025  as "an interim arrangement, till further orders."
