NC, others trying to create artificial scare: Tarun Chugh

Jammu, Apr 6: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national general secretary and In-charge J&K Tarun Chugh Sunday accused the National Conference, its allies and other Kashmir based parties of creating an “artificial fear or scare” in the name of “Waqf Amendment Bill” recently passed by the Parliament.

Chugh was responding to media queries outside the party office at Trikuta Nagar, Jammu, where the Union Home Minister Amit Shah interacted with the party legislators and other senior leaders as his first engagement after arrival on 3-day J&K visit on Sunday evening.

“Abdullah and Mufti families will have to decide whether they want to be on the side of land mafia, “lootera gang” and brokers or poor Muslim men and women, widows and destitutes,” Chugh said, when his comment was elicited on the reports that NC, Congress and Kashmir based opposition parties were planning to bring an adjournment motion in the J&K Legislative Assembly on April 7 when the budget session resumes after 12-day long recess.

“No state or UT legislature can discuss a bill passed by both the Houses of Parliament. They just want to distract the attention of people as NC has not fulfilled its lofty poll-promises. They are looking for an excuse in the “transfer issue by the LG” or “Waqf Amendment Bill” to divert attention. As far as Bill is concerned the Union Home Minister has already made it clear that it (Bill) does not interfere with the religious affairs,” Chugh said.

He said that the country was marching forward and along with it, J&K was also witnessing a new saga of peace and development under the leadership of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“J&K figures at the top of the agenda of BJP as well as the government led by the Prime Minister. That is why the Prime Minister is also coming to J&K this month and the Union Home Minister too has arrived today. The (central) government with its zero tolerance towards terrorism is on its path towards complete annihilation of terrorism and terrorists in J&K. This is our commitment to J&K. We have made J&K liberated from Article 370, 35 A and terrorism,” Chugh said.
