35 more drug peddlers detained in Jammu
Jammu, Apr 11: Continuing offensive against drug peddlers, Police Friday detained 35 more drug peddlers, thus taking the number to 77 detentions in just two days, under an intensified anti-narcotics campaign “Operation Clean Up” in Jammu.
A Police spokesperson said, “This large-scale preventive action of Jammu Police South Zone reflects the zero-tolerance policy towards drug-related activities and street-level narcotics trafficking.”
The drive was launched under the directions of SSP Jammu and executed under the supervision of SP City South, SDPO East and SDPO South, and on-ground execution by SHOs and ICPPs of South Zone, the spokesperson said.
“The purpose of the operation is to dismantle local supply chains, especially those targeting vulnerable youth. These preventive detentions follow yesterday’s coordinated drive which resulted in 42 peddlers being held across various jurisdictions. Legal proceedings have been initiated as per law,” the spokesperson said.
In a parallel operation under “Operation Ploughing” targeting illegal mining, a team of Police Post Belicharana seized two dumpers loaded with crushed stone (bajri) being transported without any valid mining permissions.
