NHM employees go without pay for 2 months ahead of Eid

Srinagar, Mar 16: As the occasions of Shab-e-Qadr and Eid-ul-Fitr are approaching fast, employees working under the Jammu and Kashmir National Health Mission (NHM) have voiced their concern over the non-payment of their wages for the past two and a half months.

This prolonged delay has caused considerable distress, with employees now grappling with significant financial hardships.

President of the National Health Mission Employees Association (NHMEA) Muneer Andrabi expressed his frustration over the salary delays, highlighting the severe mental and emotional toll it has taken on the employees.

“Despite working tirelessly and dedicating ourselves to our duties, we have not been paid for over two and a half months now. This delay is not only affecting our livelihoods but also causing immense stress, as many of us are unable to fulfil basic needs,” Andrabi said.

He said that, out of desperation, the employees are now compelled to take to the streets to have their voices heard by the authorities.

While the Centre has released the funds for the employees’ payments, those working under the JKNHM have yet to receive any of the promised amounts.

Andrabi urged the government under the leadership of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, as well as the Health and Medical Education Minister, to address the employees’ grievances without further delay.

In his appeal, Andrabi called on the CM and the Health and Medical Education Minister to take swift action to ensure that employees receive their overdue wages.
