Srinagar, Apr 07: The Meteorological department today predicted light rains and snow over higher reaches of north and central Kashmir on April 8. It also forecast thunderstorm and gusty winds of 30-40 KMPH at few places during April 9 and 10.

The weather will likely remain generally cloudy towards afternoon with possibility of light snow over higher reaches of north and central Kashmir towards late evening of April 8, an official said.

He said from April 9-10 there will be generally cloudy with intermittent spell of light rains and snow (on higher reaches) at many places of Kashmir division and scattered places of Jammu division with possibly of thunderstorm and gusty winds of 30-40 KMPH speed at few places, and advised farmers to suspend farm operations in the meanwhile.

The official said that on April 11 the weather will generally remain cloudy with light rains and snow (higher reaches) at scattered places towards morning and improvement thereafter.

The weather will generally remain dry from April 12-17, the official added.

He continued that fresh spell of rains and snow over higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir will likely take place from April 18-20.

Travelers, tourists and transporters are advised to follow advisories from administration and traffic department to avoid inconvenience, the official said.
