CASOs underway in Kathua
Jammu, Mar 15: Security forces are conducting aggressive Cordon and Search Operations (CASOs) in the upper reaches and remote areas of the Kathua district.
These operations were earlier going on in the district after a series of terror activities in the last couple of years.
The operations have been scaled up after three men including a teenage boy were kidnapped a few days ago and later found dead in a water channel with the security forces having an apprehension of the involvement of terrorists in this act.
The incident created widespread roar across J&K with many legislators also raising the issue in the ongoing proceedings of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly.
To track down suspected terrorists involved in this act, security forces strengthened the prevailing security setup scaling up the anti-terror operations.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Kathua, Shobit Saxena in an official statement said that the incident of kidnapping and killing of three men was being dealt with on two sides with one involving investigation of case and the other one of search operations.
“We have intensified ongoing searches and operations in the areas of the district where the incident happened,” he said.
Saxena said that the area was too vast, hilly, and challenging terrain connecting with the Udhampur district as well and is spread over more than 1000 sq km but security forces are working hard to achieve positive results.
