Bodies of two drowning victims handed over by PoK officials at Kaman Post

Uri, Mar 22: The bodies of two individuals who drowned in the Jhelum River earlier this month were handed over by officials from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) at the Kaman Post on Friday.

The deceased, identified as Asia Bano, daughter of Mohabbat Khan from Kundibarjala, Kamalkote, and Yassir Hussain Shah, son of Mooz Ali Shah from Dhani Basgran, had jumped into the river near Dulanja, Uri, on March 5.

Earlier, an official said that one body was spotted near Kaman Post along the LoC  and though the Police and rescue teams tried to retrieve it “but due to strong currents, it drifted to the other side of the border.”

Their bodies were recovered on the other side of the Line of Control and later repatriated.

The handover took place in the presence of the Army, police, and civil administration officials at approximately 1:20 PM.
