Wildlife Department organises trekking expedition
Srinagar, Oct 7: As part of the ongoing Wildlife Week 2024 celebrations, the Wildlife Division Central, Srinagar, organised a trekking expedition on Monday across designated routes in Dara Conservation Reserve, Brain Conservation Reserve, Wangath Conservation Reserve, and Khrew Khonmoh Conservation Reserves. The event aimed to raise awareness about wildlife conservation and promote sustainable outdoor activities among the youth and local communities.
Participants in the event included students from various schools in Srinagar, Forest Protection Force officials, members of NGOs, and local residents. Wildlife Week 2024, celebrated under the theme "Conservation through Coexistence," focuses on the importance of conservation and the crucial role communities play in protecting natural habitats and species.
The trekking expedition is one of several activities planned throughout the week to engage the public and foster a deeper understanding of conservation issues. The celebrations will culminate in a valedictory function later this week, where further discussions on conservation strategies will take place.
