WGAJK meets Secretary Sports Council to plan winter sports season
Srinagar, Oct 16: Members of the Winter Games Association of Jammu and Kashmir (WGAJK) met Secretary J&K Sports Council Nuzhat Gul on Thursday to finalise the activity calendar for the upcoming winter sports season and explore opportunities to expand events beyond Gulmarg.
In addition to the 6th edition of the Khelo India Winter Games 2026, Secretary JKSC, as per an official statement, asked the members to prepare for activities at the national and domestic levels.
Secretary JKSC also emphasised the importance of exploring winter sports activities throughout J&K, specifically in Sonamarg, Shopian, Bhaderwah and Kishtwar. Winter sports in J&K have a lot of potential, and expanding these activities to locations other than Gulmarg will undoubtedly help J&K's winter sports grow, which will in turn help to promote winter tourism as well, she said.
