Srinagar, Oct 23: Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary on Wednesday emphasised bringing vibrancy to the industries sector for economic growth and employment creation for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

The minister said this while taking a review of the industries sector here at the civil secretariat in Srinagar.

He underscored the importance of revitalising the industries sector to propel economic growth and employment creation.

The Deputy CM highlighted the sector’s potential to drive economic development and job creation, stressing the need for innovative strategies to boost industrial growth.

He emphasised the government’s commitment towards fostering a conducive business environment, encouraging entrepreneurship and attracting investments.

He said that the vibrancy in this sector will also play an important role in enhancing its contribution to J&K’s GDP.

Besides this, stress was also laid on generating job opportunities for the local youth through the promotion of MSMEs, startups and large-scale industries in J&K.

The Deputy CM directed the officials to identify areas for improvement and implement effective policies, develop infrastructure to support industrial growth and ensure ease of doing business for aspiring entrepreneurs.

Choudhary said that the government’s vision for a vibrant industries sector is expected to transform the J&K economic landscape, creating opportunities for sustainable growth and development.

The Deputy CM also directed for undertaking regular meetings in order to speed up implementation by removing impediments and bottlenecks, if any.

This will ensure that the developmental schemes being executed under different sectors and centrally sponsored schemes are closed within the stipulated time avoiding the cost escalation and related things.

“The officers should ensure that the schemes are completed and the funds allocated for a particular activity or initiatives are utilized to the maximum,” he said and maintained that the line departments should also work in a coordinated manner while carrying on developmental works.

Among others, Commissioner Secretary Industries and Commerce Vikramjit Singh and Directors of Industries and Commerce of Kashmir and Jammu, Handicrafts and Handlooms, MD JKTPO, MD SIDCO, SICOP, Director EDI, MD JKI, MD JKCL, CEO JK-KVIB and other concerned officers also attended the meeting.
