Ramban, Sep 23: Vehicular traffic movement resumed on Monday after remaining suspended on Sunday night.

Traffic officials monitoring traffic regulations in Ramban said Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) and passenger vehicles including stranded trucks between Nashri and Banihal sectors were permitted to move for their respective destinations after contractor companies of NHAI, completed the scheduled girder laying works on a viaduct in Ramsu area of Ramban district.

They said after clearing stranded vehicles between Nashri and Banihal, scheduled traffic was restored on the National Highway.

However trucks, oil tankers stranded in Udhampur were allowed to move towards Kashmir late Monday evening.

Earlier Traffic authorities said vehicular traffic movement was suspended for launching heavy girders on a viaduct of four lane project in Ramsu area of Ramban district. For this purpose both side traffic movement was suspended after 3 pm from Qazigund, in Kashmir and after 5 pm, from Udhampur on Srinagar Jammu National Highway on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir traffic department issued a fresh advisory for Tuesday stating that subject to fair weather and good road conditions, private cars, passenger vehicles would be allowed to ply on either side of NH-44.

“Traffic movement remained slow due to seasonal migration of nomadic families with their livestock on National Highway 44,” officials said.

They advised commuters and vehicle operators to follow lane discipline while travelling on National Highway 44 especially between Nashri and Banihal sectors.
