VC SKUAST-K flags off 19 Food Tech students for national exposure visit
Srinagar, Dec 6: Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir BTech Food Technology students Thursday embarked on a 12-day national exposure visit to northern India.
Vice-Chancellor, SKUAST-K, Prof Nazir Ahmad Ganai, flagged off the 19 students from the Division of Food Science and Technology, Faculty of Horticulture to an exposure visit to various reputed educational institutes and food technology industries in Punjab and Haryana.
Speaking on the occasion, the vice chancellor emphasised the significance of food processing and stressed the students to gain practical insights into the multifaceted food industry. He further stated that such exposure visits play a pivotal role in enhancing the employability of students by providing them with practical skills and industry knowledge.
Dean, Faculty of Horticulture, Prof Shabir Ahmad Wani said the exposure visit will enhance the understanding of the entire food supply chain and inspire them for the challenges and innovations they will encounter as future professionals in the field of food technology.
Head, Division of FST, Prof Syed Zameer Hussain said the exposure visit is a networking opportunity for students to interact with industry leaders and professionals.
The students will visit different food processing industries such as Nestle, Cremica, Imperial Tobacco Company of India, Ltd., McCain Foods, and reputed educational institutes like SLIET Longwal, PAU Ludhiana, and CIPHET Ludhiana.
