Traffic on Sgr-Jmu NH to remain suspended from midnight to 4 am on Nov 24, 25
Ramban, Nov 23: To carry out the emergent nature of construction works between the Nashri and Banihal tunnels, vehicular traffic on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway will remain suspended on November 24 and 25, for four hours on both days.
In this connection, an order was issued by the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Ramban Harbans Lal Sharma stating that the decision to suspend traffic for four hours from sharp midnight to 4 am on Friday and Saturday nights was taken on the communications received from the Project Director National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), Project Implementation Unit (PIU), Ramban.
He said that the decision to halt the traffic was made to ensure the safety and well-being of the general populace, travellers and drivers.
“The district administration Ramban has ordered a four-hour traffic haltage from midnight to 4 am on November 24, 2023 (Friday night) and traffic halt from midnight to
4 am on November 25, 2023 (Saturday night), for emergency work of launching the girders at Nashri Viaduct-1 (Nashri to Lucky Dhaba stretch) and for fixing jet fans at Peerah and Tunnel T-5 on NH-44 by the NHAI,” read an order issued by ADC Ramban.
“The Police Department Ramban and Traffic Police NHW, Ramban will implement the orders in letter and spirit to ensure the safety and well-being of the general public,” it said.
Meanwhile, the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway remained open for two-way traffic of Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) and heavy vehicles.
However, the movement of traffic remained slow between Nashri and Banihal.
