Tight security cover for Republic Day celebrations in Rajouri, Poonch

Rajouri, Jan 25: To facilitate smooth and peaceful conduct of Republic Day events across the region tomorrow, the security arrangements have been tightened in the twin districts of Rajouri and Poonch.

A multi-tier security layer will guard all the important venues where Republic Day events are to be organised. The Republic Day will be celebrated across the nation on Friday with events will be organised witnessing massive participation of people from all walks of life.

Similarly, in twin districts Rajouri and Poonch, Republic Day events will be organized. The main event in Poonch will be held at sports stadium while in Rajouri the main event will be organised at District Police Lines Rajouri.

In both these events of district headquarters, the concerned District Development Council Chairmen will hoist the national flag and take salute of parade.

Besides, the events will be held at all the tehsil and sub district headquarters alongwith block, panchayat and school level. Officials said that in twin districts, both hinterland as well as Line of Control (LoC) security have been strengthened in all aspects to ensure swift response towards any kind of suspicious movement in the hinterland area as well as attempts of infiltration on Line of Control.

Last year, many infiltration bids were foiled on LoC in Rajouri and Poonch besides other terror related incidents. " A joint LoC as well as hinterland security plan has already been put in place in view of Republic Day." they said. With regard to security of venues where Republic Day is to be celebrated, officials said that a three tier security cover will remain in place at all the important event venues.

This include security outside the venue, security for entry inside venue and intra-venue security.

The security of these venues will be looked after by Jammu and Kashmir police alongwith CAPF and in coordination with army.
