Slippery conditions keep Mughal Road closed

Rajouri, Jan 4: Severe slippery conditions continued to keep the Mughal Road closed for the movement of traffic for the eighth straight day.

The road was closed last Friday after snowfall in Rajouri and Poonch areas. The snow clearance operation by the Mechanical Engineering Department was completed on Monday but frost and slippery conditions are not facilitating the movement of traffic.

“We are unable to restore the road for traffic due to slippery conditions and the situation is the same for the last five days,” Sub Divisional Magistrate Surankote Farooq Khan Nazki told Greater Kashmir.

He said that necessary road inspection as well as snow clearance work was being carried out whenever required but the road could only be restored once slippery conditions reduce.
