Speeding truck hits transformer, damages shops at Pandach
Srinagar, Oct 16: A speeding truck rammed into transformer platform at 90 road near Pandach area and damaged several shops.
Locals said that the speeding truck lost control and rammed into transformer platform and adjacent shops.
The locals in the area said that the transformer location makes it prone to such incidents. They said despite their pleas, the transformer was not relocated.
“Fortunately this accident happened during the night when there is no one on the road and shops are also closed. If it had happened in the day, it could have led to fatalities. We heard a bang at about around 4 am, and as we came out, the truck was in ruins, and it had damaged the transformer platform and two shops,” said a local.
The truck with registration number JK11-9787 was heading to Ladakh from Jammu when it met an accident at 90 feet road. The driver of the truck while speaking to the media said that they lost control due to ‘technical glitch’ in the steering, which led to accident.
“Although there was no loss of life but the truck is fully damaged,” said the driver.
The locals also appealed to authorities to keep a check on overspeeding trucks and tippers amid a rise in accidents.
