Srinagar, Dec 25: The Nigeen Lake Conservation Organization (NLCO) has restored 10 springs near water bodies under Phase 4 of Mission Ehsaas.

Chairman of NLCO Manzoor Ahmad Wangnoo said sustained restoration efforts have brought life back to springs at Amda Kadal, Sazgaripora Hawal, Rainawari areas in Srinagar besides Badrakund and Sinnag in Ganderbal.

These springs were once a symbol of life and vitality for people. Ironically these springs were vandalised and buried alive by unscrupulous persons. To revive these springs, NLCO launched a sustained drive. It is a matter of pride that we have been successful in reviving 10 springs. he revitalisation of springs is crucial, not only for the restoration but also for alleviating the water crisis faced by the residents,” Wangnoo said.

“We will continue our mission to revive springs and welcome people to join our initiative for environmental preservation and help to mitigate ill-effects of pollution and mitigate the impact of climate change,” Wangnoo added.

“The project was a collective effort involving stakeholders, including the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC), the Jammu & Kashmir Lakes Conservation and Management Authority (JKLCMA), and local communities. Volunteers, environmentalists, and residents worked together to clean, desilt, and restore these springs to their natural state,” the NLCO chairman added.
