Ramban, Jan 25: The Srinagar-Jammu National Highway remained open for two-way traffic of Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) and heavy vehicles on Thursday while the J&K Traffic Police Department issued a fresh advisory for Friday stating that subject to fair weather and road clearance LMVs and heavy vehicles would be allowed to ply on either side of the highway.

The traffic authorities said that the movement of traffic remained slow due to the breakdown of three heavy vehicles, single road stretches, poor surface conditions at Dalwass, Mehar-Cafeteria, Ramban, Magarkote, Nachlana, and Hingni and at other places between Nashri and Banihal.

Traffic officials monitoring the regulation of traffic in Ramban said that the highway remained open and hundreds of LMVs and heavy vehicles crossed the Nashri-Banihal sector for their respective destinations without any interruption during the day.

They said heavy load carriers also headed towards Kashmir and Jammu in a regulated manner.

Meanwhile, the J&K Traffic Police Department issued a fresh advisory for Friday stating that subject to fair weather and road clearance LMVs and heavy vehicles would be allowed to ply on either side of the highway.

They advised the passenger vehicle operators, commuters, and people not to undertake journeys on the highway during night hours due to apprehensions of shooting tones between Ramban and Banihal.

They also advised the commuters to follow lane discipline while travelling, especially between the Nashri and Banihal sector of the highway.
