Ramban, Oct 2: The Srinagar-Jammu National Highway remained open for two-way traffic of Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) on Wednesday and it would remain open for two-way traffic of Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) and heavy vehicles on Thursday.

The traffic authorities said that the traffic movement remained slow due to on foot movement of nomads with their livestock towards Jammu, and the breakdown of a few heavy vehicles besides single lane road stretches at Dalwass and Mehar Cafeteria and between Maroog and Kishtwari Pathar area falling between Nahsri and Banihal sector of the highway.

Meanwhile, the Traffic Department issued a fresh advisory stating that subject to fair weather and good road conditions, LMVs and heavy vehicles will be allowed to ply on either side of the highway.

They advised LMV operators not to undertake journeys on the highway due to apprehension of shooting stones between Ramban and Banihal and due to the movement of nomads from Kashmir to Jammu that might cause incontinence to the commuters.

They advised the LMV operators to prefer journeys on the highway only during the daytime.
