2 bootleggers arrested in Ramban
Ramban, Oct 2: Police arrested two bootleggers and recovered 86 bottles of illicit liquor from their possession in Ramban on Wednesday.
Police sources said on the directions of Senior Superintendent of Police Ramban, Kulbir Singh a drive against the sale of illicit liquor, was launched in the district.
Acting upon the directions a Police team led by SHO Police Station Ramban Vijay Kotwal Ramban arrested two bootleggers at two different locations in the Jurisdictions of Police Station Ramban
They said a Police Party of Police Station Ramban while conducting patrolling apprehended a person and recovered 50 bottles (180ML each) of illicit alcohol from his possession.The accused was found illegally selling the liquor. Police said Dev Raj Son of Kuldeep Singh resident of Hallah Dhandrath, tehsil and District Ramban was arrested.
In another instance, the Police party of Police Station Ramban apprehended another bootlegger and recovered 36 Bottles of (250 ML each) from his possession. The accused was found illegally selling liquor.
They said Shakti Singh son of Krishan Singh resident of Village Sincha Tehsil and District Ramban.
Police have registered two separate FIRs numbers 243 and 244 under section 48(a) of the Excise Act has been registered against both of them at Police Station Ramban and further investigation of the case is ongoing, said police.
