Ramban, Jan 11: The Srinagar-Jammu National Highway remained open for two-way traffic on Saturday. Traffic authorities said NH -44 remained open but traffic movement remained slow due to the breakdown of few heavy vehicles, poor road conditions and due to single-lane road stretches at Dalwass, Mehar Cafeteria, and between Maroog and Kishtwar Pathar areas of Ramban district.

Meanwhile, the traffic department issued a fresh advisory for Sunday stating that subject to fair weather and good road conditions light medium and heavy vehicles would be allowed to ply on both sides of National Highway. Traffic authorities have advised passenger, light medium vehicles operators not to undertake journeys on National Highway during the night due to apprehension of shooting stones between Ramban and Banihal sectors.

They said for safe and secure journeys; prefer journeys on Highway during the day time only. Traffic authorities advised commuters to avoid unnecessary haltage between Ramban and Banihal especially near landslide/shooting stone area. They said Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag NH-244 still remains closed due to snow accumulation. On the other hand Bhaderwah Chamba road also remained closed due to accumulation of the snow.
