Schools closed in J&K’s Ramban after rains, snowfall

Ramban, March 15: Authorities on Saturday ordered the closure of all government and private schools in Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir following rains in plains and snowfall on the higher reaches, officials said.

Deputy Commissioner Ramban Basirul Haq Chaudhary told Greater Kashmir that holiday has been announced in all schools of Ramban district today in view of the bad weather and snowfall in the hilly areas.

“Necessary instructions have been passed to Chief Education Officer Ramban,” he added.

“As per directions received from District administration Ramban all govt and private schools shall remain closed today on 15-03-2025 in view of incessant rainfall”, said the CEO Ramban, in a post on X.

The announcement came as the upper reaches of the district, including Jawahar Tunnel top, Mahoo Mangit valley and Pirpanjal range of mountains received fresh snowfall.
