Banihal resident hit by unidentified vehicle dies at SMHS hospital in Srinagar
Banihal, March 18: A man who was critically injured Monday evening in a road accident near Banihal has succumbed to his injuries at SMHS Hospital Srinagar.
After spending months of working outside the state, he was returning home but the fate did not allow him to reach his family.
The deceased has been identified as Hilal Ahmad Wani son of Ahmadullah Wani a resident of Bankoot, Banihal.
According to reports, Hilal was hit by an unidentified vehicle on Monday evening near the Banihal bypass, behind SDM office Banihal. He sustained severe head injuries in the incident and was immediately rushed to SDH Banihal by locals.
Syed Mudasir a local Volunteer from Banihal said that due to the critical nature of his injuries doctors referred him to GMC Anantnag but his condition worsened and he was later referred to SMHS Hospital Srinagar for advanced treatment, where he breathed his last on Monday night.
Reports said Hilal Ahmad Wani had reportedly been working as labour outside JKUT for the past three - four months due to unemployment . He had just returned home on Monday evening when the tragic accident occurred. While the exact cause of the accident is still unknown, it is believed that he was hit by a unidentified vehicle on the Banihal bypass, causing him to fall off the roadside and suffer fatal injuries.
Police have started investigation regarding the matter.
