Government Middle School Hamray in Baramulla district was one such school which arranged a special outing for the students who were given sweets and snacks by the teachers. The students were seen in mode of jubilation while celebrating their day.

Besides an outing, the cultural performances and group dances were the order of the day. Teachers actively joined the festivities, celebrating the special day with their students.

The schools across the Valley engaged in celebrations. The private schools were equally seen busy in engaging students in different sports activities and other extracurricular activities. The students participated in Tug of War, dance and other cultural performances.

Like towns and cities, the government schools in far off areas also arranged an array of activities for the children. The teachers at Government Upper Primary School Lone Muhalla Kanthpora in Sogam education zone also celebrated the day with students. In a unique way, the teachers celebrated the day by cutting a cake and distributed the sweetness among the students.

“It is the collective responsibility of teachers to nurture the potential of children for a brighter tomorrow. We have to nourish today’s child for the betterment of our future. And everyone has to play their role actively and, more importantly, honestly,” said Mehraj Sufi, a teacher from north Kashmir.

The private schools were equally committed to making the day memorable for their students. Dressed in their school uniforms, the children spent the day engaged in a play-way method of learning.

“Children are the torchbearers of tomorrow. We have to groom them to enlighten our future and keep the flame of knowledge alive,” Sufi said.
