MeT predicts rains, snow today
Srinagar, Nov 14: After an extended period of unusually dry weather that led to over a 75 percent rainfall deficit, Kashmir is set to witness a fresh spell of rain and snow, beginning Thursday night.
“A spell of light rain and light snow is predicted in the higher reaches at many places of Kashmir and few places of Jammu division during the late night of November 14 to November 15 evening and thereafter generally dry weather from November 16th to November 23,” the MeT said in a post on X.
In light of the weather forecast, the Meteorological Department has issued a travel advisory for tourists and trekkers.
Travellers have been urged to plan their trips carefully around the anticipated snowfall, particularly in areas with challenging passes and mountainous routes.
These include the Zojila Pass, Razdan Pass, Sadhna Top, Sinthan Top, and Mughal Road, where weather conditions could pose difficulties for those navigating these high-altitude locations.
The advisory specifically recommends that tourists avoid travel over these passes on the nights of November 14 and 15, as conditions could become hazardous.
