Sanctorum defeats Dolphin International School in friendly cricket match in Baramulla
Baramulla, Nov 5: Sanctorum Public School Sopore defeated Dolphin International School Pulwama on Wednesday by eight wickets in a friendly exhibition cricket match held at General Bipin Rawat Stadium, Baramulla, under the inter-school sports exchange programme.
The match, as per a statement, was held under the inter-school sports exchange programme, an initiative aimed at strengthening sporting ties between districts and enhancing student exposure in competitive games.
The statement added that the match was played on a turf wicket to provide young cricketers much-needed experience of professional playing conditions.
"Playing on a turf is an opportunity which is rarely available at the school level in the region," the handout reads.
Sanctorum Public School won the toss and elected to bowl first and bundled out the team of Dolphin International School at 71 runs in 13 overs.
Key bowlers included Bhat Ayaan, who took three wickets; Musaib (two wickets); and Burhan (two wickets), while Syed Jamsheed and Shakir Akbar secured a wicket each.
While chasing the target, Sanctorum completed the score in 7.4 overs.
Syed Hasnain scored 20 runs, while Owais Ahmad scored 20 runs and remained not out.
Sanctorum school secured victory by eight wickets.
Yawar from Dolphin International School was awarded Man of the Match for his exceptional bowling performance, taking three wickets in his spell.
"The match concluded with mutual respect, sporting spirit, and valuable learning for both teams," the handout reads.
The host school, Sanctorum Public School Sopore, extended gratitude to the guests and other dignitaries, officials, supporting staff, and the management of General Bipin Rawat Stadium for facilitating this event.
Lieutenant Colonel Ankit Sharma of 19 Arty Brigade, Major Parakh of 19 Arty Brigade, Tariq Ahmad, Chairman of GMET Sopore, Shakir Ashraf, Director of Sanctorum Institute, and Haji Mohammad Ramzan, Administrative Officer of Sanctorum Institute Sopore, were present at the occasion.
