Rohan Bopanna Tennis Academy launches Bhoomi Program for underprivileged kids in J&K
Srinagar, Jan 28: In a significant boost for aspiring young tennis players from underprivileged backgrounds, the Rohan Bopanna Tennis Academy is set to conduct selection trials for its "Bhoomi" Programamme in Jammu and Kashmir.
The initiative, supported by the Kamal India Foundation UK and complemented by the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council, aims to provide comprehensive tennis training and education to talented children.
The trials will be held on January 31, 2025 (Friday) at 2:00 PM at Indoor Stadium, Srinagar.
The eligibility criteria framed states that from 8-10 years the trails will be (only for underprivileged kids) for both boys & girls from any part of Jammu & Kashmir.
For selection, the criteria defines that apart from physical fitness tests, there will be ‘No prior tennis experience requirement.’
Highlighting what the ‘Bhoomi program’ will be offering, it states that the selected children will receive free boarding and lodging, free education (CBSE syllabus up to 10th standard), comprehensive tennis training at the Sports School in Bengaluru (home to the Rohan Bopanna Tennis Academy), and free air tickets to their hometowns during vacations.
