Srinagar, Sep 12: Cyber Police Kashmir on Thursday urged social media users and administrators to refrain from posting or sharing unverified or unconfirmed news, failing which legal action under the IT Act will be initiated against the violators.

Taking to micro-blogging site X, Cyber Police Kashmir said: “Posting or sharing unverified or unconfirmed news can lead to unnecessary panic and misinformation among the public. Refrain from spreading rumors or misinformation”.

The post added, “Group Admins are responsible for ensuring the content shared in WhatsApp groups is authentic and verified. Violating this can result in legal action under the IT Act. Stay informed, stay responsible!”.
