Pulwama Softball Championship: Leeniv Academy, Hero’s Club claim top honours
Srinagar, Sep 24: The District Pulwama Softball Championship 2024-25, organised by the Softball Association of Pulwama in collaboration with the Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council, concluded with an exciting display of talent at the Sports Stadium in Bajwani, Tral.
The two-day event saw participation from over 220 young players from various softball clubs, colleges, and schools across the district, competing in different age categories, including Sub-Junior, Junior, and Senior groups for both boys and girls.
The event was honoured by the presence of Waseem Raja Khan, Secretary of J&K Softball Association, as the Chief Guest, while Farooq Trali, Chairman of Citizens Council Tral, and Muhammad Akram, Incharge of Sports Stadium Bajwani, attended as Guests of Honor. International softball athlete Ayush Singh, recently appointed to train the J&K Junior Softball team for the 42nd Junior National Championship in Andhra Pradesh, graced the concluding ceremony as the Special Guest, inspiring the young athletes with his experience and encouraging words.
The championship was marked by fierce competition, with teams vying for the top spots. The winners, runners-up, and third-place teams were awarded medals and trophies for their remarkable performances. The Chief Guest praised the Softball Association of Pulwama and the J&K Sports Council for organizing the event in a highly professional manner. He expressed hope for more local tournaments at zonal and club levels to promote softball in the district and extended gratitude to all those involved, especially Nuzhat Gul, Secretary of the J&K Sports Council, for her efforts in reviving the sport in the region.
The championship was fully sponsored by the Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council, highlighting its commitment to the development of sports in the region.
In the Men’s and Women’s categories, Leeniv Softball Academy took home the championship titles. Hero’s Softball Club and WAIS Softball Club emerged victorious in the Junior Boys and Girls categories, respectively. Murad Softball Club and Hiller Softball Club topped the Sub-Junior Boys and Girls sections, showcasing the region's promising talent across all age groups.
