Power outages pester consumers in Ganderbal district

Ganderbal, Mar 1: The pesky power supply continues to haunt consumers in Ganderbal district as complaints of unscheduled and prolonged power curtailment pour in across the district.

Residents of several areas including towns complained that power supply is playing hide and seek aggravating the woes of people. They said despite the KPDCL having issued a curtailment schedule, they have failed to provide uninterrupted power supply.

The consumers said that the pesky power supply is causing immense hardships to them. “We are facing this problem of unscheduled and prolonged power outages for the last two months now. Despite claims by the Department they have not been able to provide proper power supply to consumers,” said a local resident of Haripora.

Residents of other areas of the district had the same story to tell. The consumers here alleged that the power outages occur mostly from the Bemina grid station. Prolonged power curtailment schedule, pesky and unscheduled power cuts continue to haunt consumers as well as the students and business community here who have urged the government to streamline the power supply and ensure regular power to consumers. The consumers receiving electricity from the receiving station Surfraw in tehsil Gund said that it needs to be upgraded and further augmented so that the power outages are avoided.

An official however said that improvement in power supply is likely in the coming days.
