Jammu, Dec 10: All J&K Transport Welfare Association (AJKTWA) and the Nehru Market Traders Federation (NMTF), Jammu on Wednesday announced to extend their wholehearted support to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Sangharsh Samiti (SMVDSS), to strengthen its ongoing agitation in Jammu vis-a-vis SMVDIME admission row.

The support was extended when a team of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Sangharsh Samiti (SMVDSS), led by Colonel Sukhvir Singh Mankotia convener and Parshotam Dadhichi, president Shri Sanatan Dharma Sabha on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, held a meeting with the teams of AJKTWA and NMTF, Jammu and formally sought support from these key business organisations for its ongoing movement.

During the meeting, both the organisations announced their full support to the committee. All the participants also expressed solidarity to make the upcoming bandh (shutdown) called by the transporters on Monday, December 15, 2025, a success.

Meanwhile, it was announced that a meeting of the Sangharsh Samiti’s core group will be held tomorrow (December 11, 2025) to draw its (committee’s) next strategy. “In this meeting, a new strategy to advance the movement will be discussed afresh, considering the support received from the transporters and the traders’ federation,” it was stated.

Colonel Mankotia expressed happiness over this comprehensive support. He said, “This unity shows that our movement is not just for a few people; it is the voice of the common citizen of Jammu. Transport and Traders are the backbone of our society, and their support is our moral victory. We will continue the struggle peacefully until our demands are met.”

Dadhichi also emphasised the importance of cooperation. He stated, “The Sangharsh Samiti, along with all its members, will ensure its participation in the bandh.”

Karan Singh Wazir, chairman, All J&K Transport Welfare Association confirmed the support of the transport community, including the affiliated associations of matadors (Min-buses), tempos, e-rickshaws, and other unions.

He said, “The transport community has always stood with the Sangharsh Samiti on issues of public interest. We believe the committee’s demands are genuine. We will give our full cooperation by halting all our vehicles on Monday, as this issue is linked to the future of both us and the public.”

Deepak Gupta, president, Nehru Market Traders Federation, too reiterated the resolve of the business community. He said, “The Nehru Market Traders Federation has unanimously decided to support this bandh. Trade and development are only possible when the rights of citizens are secured. We will keep our shops closed on Monday and work with the Sangharsh Samiti to make this movement successful.”

The transporters, traders, and members of the Sangharsh Samiti jointly reiterated to fully cooperate to make the bandh on Monday effective.

Senior members of the committee, Akshay, Abhishek Gupta, general secretary Trader Federation Nehru Market Jammu and several members of the transport and trade federations also shared their views.
