Police file FIR for circulation of fabricated letter on social media

Srinagar, Sep 11: Police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) at Rajbagh Police Station upon receipt of a written complaint from a national political party about the circulation of a fabricated document on social networking sites.

Srinagar Police in a post on X said upon receipt of the complaint a cognizance was taken and investigations under relevant sections of the law have been initiated.

“Police takes cognizance upon written complaint of a national political party wrt a fabricated communication being circulated across SM platforms spreading misinformation, using counterfeit letter pad of a senior party leader. FIR under relevant sections of law regd in PS Rajbagh and investigation has been initiated,” reads the post on X.
