PM Modi holds bilateral meets with global leaders  at COP-28 Summit

New Delhi, Dec 1: Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged in a series of bilateral meetings with world leaders on the sidelines of the COP-28 Presidency's Session on "Transforming Climate Finance” in Dubai, UAE.

The summit, focusing on making climate finance more accessible to developing countries, provided a platform for discussions on a wide array of global and bilateral issues.

During a meeting with Israeli President Isaac Herzog, Prime Minister Modi expressed condolences over the loss of lives in the October 7 Hamas attacks and welcomed the release of hostages.

Emphasising the need for the safe delivery of humanitarian aid, Modi reiterated India's support for a two-state solution and the early resolution of the Israel-Palestine issue through dialogue and diplomacy.

President Herzog, in turn, congratulated Modi on the success of India's G20 Presidency and welcomed the launch of the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor.

Further strengthening diplomatic ties, PM Modi met with the President of the Republic of Maldives, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, and discussed ways to enhance friendship between India and Maldives across diverse sectors. In another tweet, Modi stated, "President @MMuizzu and I had a productive meeting today. We look forward to working together to deepen cooperation for the benefit of our people."

The  Prime Minister also held talks with French President Emmanuel Macron, expressing admiration for Macron's passion for strengthening relations between India and France.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also met President of the Republic of Maldives and President of Peoples' National Congress (PNC) Maldives Dr Mohamed Muizzu and discussed ways to enhance the India-Maldives friendship across diverse sectors.

"President @MMuizzu and I had a productive meeting today. We discussed ways to enhance the India-Maldives friendship across diverse sectors. We look forward to working together to deepen cooperation for the benefit of our people," PM Modi shared on X.

Other notable meetings included those with the leaders of the United Arab Emirates, Sweden, Turkey, Barbados, Guyana, Italy, Brazil, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Bahrain, Jordan, Tajikistan, and Ethiopia, among others.

"Delighted to meet Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali, President of Guyana. Our discussions underscored the importance of close cooperation among Global South countries in pursuing a sustainable future for our planet."
