School shooting leaves 1 dead, 2 other children seriously injured in Finland
New Delhi, Apr 2: In a shooting incident at Viertola School in Vantaa, Finland, a child has died and two others have sustained serious injuries, as confirmed by the police. All three victims, aged 12, were involved, with the suspect also being 12 years old and subsequently detained.
The shooting occurred within a classroom setting at Viertola School, situated north of the capital Helsinki, as reported by parents to Finnish media. Upon the arrival of law enforcement, the suspect fled the scene but was later apprehended in the northern Siltamaki district of Helsinki.
Police confirmed the suspect had a firearm, which was confiscated, and admitted to carrying out the shooting during initial questioning.
The shooting took place as students returned to classes after the extended Easter weekend.
