PC chief Sajad Lone mocks outcome of NC, allies meet
Srinagar, April 04: People’s Conference chairman and MLA Handwara, Sajad Gani Lone, on Friday took a sharp dig at the Omar Abdullah-led coalition government, questioning its authority and response in the wake of the recent JKAS officers' transfers ordered by the Lieutenant Governor’s administration.
In a sarcastic post on X (formerly Twitter), Lone said: "The ruling alliance which had called a meeting, ended their meeting with a solemn resolve to work at existing pay scale."
His remark appeared to mock the outcome of Friday’s emergency meeting of National Conference (NC) legislators and coalition partners, chaired by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in Srinagar.
The meeting was convened amid growing tensions between the elected government and the Raj Bhavan, following the transfer of 48 middle and lower-rung JKAS officers—including 14 ADCs and 26 SDMs—by the LG’s administration.
Notably, the NC-led coalition has reaffirmed its opposition to what it termed an “overreach” by the LG administration, stating that nobody should be allowed to infringe upon the rights of the elected government.
