Panel to monitor progress on micro, mini, small hydro projects in J&K

Jammu, Aug 28: The Jammu and Kashmir government has constituted a committee for reviewing and monitoring the progress on the development of micro, mini and small hydro projects in the Union Territory.

The panel has been entrusted with the task of facilitating the creation of a conducive environment for attracting private sector investment in the development of micro, mini and small hydro projects in J&K.

The Administrative Secretary of the Power Development Department (PDD) will be the chairman of the panel while the Administrative Secretaries of Finance, Science and Technology, Revenue, and Public Works (R&B) Departments will be its members.

Chief Executive Officer, JAKEDA will be its member-secretary. Besides, representatives of the Forest, Ecology and Environment, and Jal Shakti Departments (not below the rank of Additional Secretary in each case) and any other member as may be co-opted by the committee, will also be panel members.

As per its terms of reference, the panel will monitor the progress on the identification and development of micro, mini and small hydro projects under execution in the Union Territory of J&K.

It will also examine and review the draft policy for the development of micro, mini and small hydropower project 2024 framed by JAKEDA and draft J&K Hydro Power Policy 2024 framed by PDD.
