Overloaded passenger vehicle seized in Reasi

Ramban, Jan 13: Continuing to drive against overloading especially in passenger vehicles, Traffic Police National Highway seized a vehicle and arrested its driver for endangering the lives of passengers in Reasi on Saturday.

Official sources said a Traffic police team of traffic subdivision Udhampur led by Sector Officer Reasi, SI Umesh Kumar intercepted a minibus bearing registration number JK20-7556 at IRP Chowk Reasi on Katra to Reasi road. During checking the minibus was found carrying 42 Passengers against the seating capacity of 24 only.

The driver of the vehicle Rajesh Singh son of Jeet Singh was arrested and the vehicle was seized. They said a case FIR 10 of 2024 under section 279/336 IPC was registered at Police Station Reasi.

SSP Traffic National Highway Ramban, Rohit Baskotra confirmed the report and three cases were registered in the last three.
