Srinagar, Sep 13: Stating that he would accompany Member of Parliament (MP) Engineer Rashid to Tihar Jail, National Conference (NC) Vice President and former chief minister, Omar Abdullah Friday accepted Rashid’s “challenge”.

Speaking to reporters at Kulgam, Abdullah said that Rashid had stated that he would quit politics if Abdullah accompanied him to Tihar Jail.

“I accept the challenge. I will personally go with him when it’s time. Let him quit politics,” he said.

Abdullah also said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) should be defeated in the upcoming elections and warned those preparing to ally with them post-elections.

He said that NC was committed to fighting for the restoration of Article 370 and fighting for the rights of J&K.

Abdullah said that while other political figures might remain ambiguous in their stance towards the BJP, NC was fully committed to keeping them out of power in the region.

He said that the NC-Congress alliance aims to rectify the injustices done to J&K over the past decade.

Abdullah said that Rashid’s silence when asked about his post-election plans to support BJP raises concerns.

“Why Rashid doesn't categorically reject any future alliance with the BJP,” he questioned.
