National Unity Day observed at CUK
Ganderbal, Nov 1: The School of Social Sciences and the School of Business Studies celebrated National Unity Day at the university’s Green Campus.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr K Lakshman, Head of the Department of Politics and Governance (DPG), highlighted the importance of National Unity Day and the significant contributions of national leaders, particularly the influence of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in establishing the Union of India.
In his address, Prof Fayaz Ahmad Nikka, Dean of the Schools of Social Sciences, urged students to recognise and understand the importance of unity in their actions and behaviors.
He stated that divisions based on caste, color, religion, and place of birth only teach “us how to cooperate with one another. “ He noted that India is known for its unity in diversity, and the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir serves as an excellent example of mutual tolerance, harmony, and coexistence, given its rich cultural ethos.
Dr Khalid Waseem, Senior Assistant Professor of DPG, proposed the vote of thanks, reiterating that the idea of unity should extend beyond the nation and nationalism.
