May 25 to be paid holiday in Anantnag-Rajouri parliamentary constituency
Jammu, May 9: Modifying its earlier order, the J&K government has announced that May 25 will be observed as a paid holiday on account of general elections to Lok Sabha-2024, in Anantnag-Rajouri parliamentary constituency.
Earlier, May 7, 2024, which was the polling date in Anantnag-Rajouri parliamentary constituency, was to be observed as a paid holiday on account of general elections to Lok Sabha-2024.
However, on April 30, the Election Commission of India (ECI) rescheduled the date of the poll in the Anantnag-Rajouri Parliamentary Constituency to May 25, 2024, in phase six.
The poll date was revised from May 7 in the third phase to May 25 in the sixth phase by ECI after considering the J&K government’s report on demands by candidates and various political parties to reschedule it (poll date) due to weather-related obstacles.
“In partial modification of Government Order No. 914-JK(GAD) 2024 dated April 1, 2024, paid holiday on account of General Elections to Lok Sabha-2024, in 3-Anantnag-Rajouri Parliamentary Constituency shall now be observed on May 25, 2024 (Saturday) instead of May 7, 2024 (Tuesday),” read an order issued by Commissioner Secretary GAD, referring to a communique from the office of Chief Electoral Officer, J&K vide No CEO-ELEC0COE/27/2024-I/6817-23 dated May 1, 2024.
