Man dies after hit by shooting stones on NH-244

Ramban, Dec 18: A man died after he was hit by shooting stones in the Sangambati area of Mughal Maidan, Chatroo on Kishtwar- Anantnag National Highway-244 on Monday.

Police sources said that a man identified as Makhna, son of Sultan Ahmed Malwar, Mughal Maidan sustained injuries after he was hit by shooting stones. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him dead.

They said the body of the deceased person was handed over to the family for last rites.

As soon as the news of his death spread, relatives and locals of the Sangambati Mughal Maidan assembled on the road and staged a protest against the contractor engaged in road widening work on Kishtwar-Anantnag National Highway 244.

They demanded strict action against the contractor company and compensation in favour of the deceased’s family.
