Man dies after being hit by police vehicle at Hawal

Srinagar, May 31: A 65-year-old man died in a road accident at Hawal area of Downtown on Thursday.

Officials said Abdul Salam, a resident of Hawal was critically injured when he was run over by a police vehicle near Firdous Cinema at Hawal. Following the accident, Salam was shifted to SKIMS Soura by a police team. However, despite the prompt medical attention, doctors declared him dead on arrival. Confirming the incident, police said that it was classified as a Road Traffic Accident (RTA). "It is an RTA,” they said.

Police said it has registered FIR and the matter is under investigation to “determine the exact circumstances leading to the unfortunate event.”

Meanwhile, people of the area have demanded immediate action into the incident.
