The areas included Tulail and Dawar.

The villages in Tulail like Kilshay, Jurniyal, and Chakwali witnessed thin layers of snow, locals from Gurez Valley said.

However, to the disappointment of the villagers in Bagtore, there was no snowfall.

The centrally-located Dawar received nearly 2-inch snow which had melted by evening.

The officials in Bandipora closed the Bandipora-Gurez road in anticipation of fresh snow spells in the coming days while also keeping in view the slippery conditions of the 85-km road.

However, the officials on Saturday allowed stranded passenger vehicles to ply one-way traffic on the road.

Meanwhile, chopper service has been pressed in to lift passengers with exigencies from Gurez Valley.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora Shakeel-ur-Rehman said that an adequate quantity of essentials were dumped in Gurez and that men and machinery were ready to clear snow from the roads in case there was heavy snowfall.
