Ram Navmi celebrated with religious fervour
Srinagar, Apr 6: On the occasion of the Hindu festival of Ram Navmi, the Kashmiri Pandit community in Srinagar conducted the traditional ''Shobha Yatra'' with religious zeal on Sunday. During the processions, the Hindu community participated in huge numbers. They were seen wearing colourful clothes and chanting bhajans in praise of the Hindu deities.
The organisers of the yatra said that the Shobha Yatra started from Sri Kathleshwar Mandir (ISKCON) and proceeded towards Habba Kadal, Barbar Shah, Ram Mandir, Regal Chowk, and Hari Singh High Street. The devotees of all age groups were seen wearing colorful costumes and carrying out other religious activities during the event. In temples across Srinagar, the bhajans in Kashmiri language were among the main highlights of the event, in which members of the Kashmiri Pandit community were seen participating in huge numbers.
“Every year, this Yatra is taken out with religious fervor. The Muslim community in Kashmir is always very supportive, and you could see them waiting for Shobha yatra and even distributing water during the event. This is an important event in the Hindu community, and every year, we wait to be part of the event,” a female devotee said.
The Jammu & Kashmir Police and CRPF provided foolproof security for the Shobha Yatra, and many senior officials were seen overseeing the event. The event marks the birth of Lord Ram and is celebrated all over India with enthusiasm. Jagdish Bhardwaj, from J&K Dharmarth Trust, said that the event went smoothly and that the administration had made all the arrangements nicely. “We took out the Shobha yatra very smoothly, and everyone participated. This is an important event in the Hindu religion and I am glad that people celebrated it with full enthusiasm in Srinagar. On the day we prayed for unity, brotherhood, and peace in Kashmir,” Bhardwaj said.
