LG to head organising, coordination panel; CS to lead executive panel
Jammu, Jan 9: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha will lead the 14-member Organizing and Coordination Committee, constituted on Tuesday, for the smooth conduct of Khelo India Winter Games-2024, in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
The mandate of this panel will be to organise and successfully deliver the Khelo India Winter Games-2024, beginning from February 2 at Gulmarg, through the Executive Committee (EC) and Games Secretariat.
The 34-member Executive Committee will have the Chief Secretary as its chairperson and Secretary (Sports), Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India as its co-chairperson.
Organising and Coordination Committee will comprise Chief Secretary; Secretary (Sports), Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India; Financial Commissioner (Additional Chief Secretary), Home department; Director General of Police, J&K; Secretary Revenue department; Administrative Secretary Public Works(R&B) department; Administrative Secretary, Disaster, Relief, Rehabilitation & Reconstruction department; Director General, Sports Authority of India; Director Khelo India, New Delhi; Director, Youth Services and Sports; Secretary, J&K Sports Council and a representative from Indian Olympic Association as its members.
The chairperson (Lieutenant Governor) may co-opt any officer or resource person or consultant or eminent sportsperson in the Committee.
Secretary Youth Services and Sports department will be the member secretary. The committee is scheduled to meet at least once in a month.
As per the terms of references, the CS-led Executive has been tasked to conduct the games smoothly; supervise or monitor different activities of Khelo India Winter Games (KIWG), 2024. Its mandate is to bring about the overall coordination among various implementing agencies and discharge responsibilities under overall guidance of the Organizing and Coordination Committee.
It will also supervise and provide oversight to the infrastructure development of the KIWG 2024 venues.
Executive Committee (EC) will comprise Director General of Police; Principal Secretary Power Development Department; Principal Secretary Culture department; Commissioner Secretary General Administration Department; Commissioner Secretary Tourism department; Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir; Administrative Secretaries of Transport; Public Works(R&B) and Health and Medical Education departments; Deputy Commissioners of district Budgam and Baramulla; Superintendents of Police of Budgam and Baramulla districts; Director Information, J&K; Director Tourism, Kashmir; Managing Director, J&K Cable Car Corporation; Director, Urban Local Bodies Kashmir; Director, Fire & Emergency Services, J&K and Director, Youth Services and Sports, J&K as its members.
The mandate of the Executive panel is also to monitor progress of the projects related to KIWG 2024 in the field and review the work of the implementing agencies.
It will apprise all decisions to the Organizing Committee from time to time and raise all issues and concerns that may require attention of the Organising and Coordination Committee.
Director Health Services, Kashmir; Secretary, J&K Sports Council; Regional Transport Officer, Kashmir; CEO, Gulmarg Development Authority; a representative from Sports Authority of India; Director Airport Authority of India. Srinagar; Deputy Director General, Doordarshan J&K; Station Director, All India Radio, J&K; Regional Director, Sports Authority of India; a representative each from Indian Olympic Association and Winter Games Association of J&K and prominent sportsperson Gul Mustafa will also be the members of Executive Committee.
The chairperson may co-opt any officer or resource person or consultant or eminent sportsperson in the Committee.
Secretary Youth Services and Sports department will be the member secretary of the Executive Committee.
Scheduled to meet at least once in every month, EC will issue guidance, and support to the Games Secretariat for smooth management of the programme.
