LG attends wreath-laying ceremony at AFS Jammu, pays tributes

Jammu, July 16: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha Tuesday, while condemning the terrorist attack on security forces in Doda district, Tuesday asserted that the death of soldiers would be avenged and evil designs of terrorists, their associates would be thwarted.

Paying homage to brave-hearts, he also exhorted the people to unite in the fight against terrorism and provide accurate information to bolster “anti-terror operations and neutralise the terror ecosystem.”

LG Sinha also attended sombre wreath-laying ceremony, which took place at Air Force Station (AFS), Jammu during the day, to pay homage to Captain Brijesh Thapa, Naik D Rajesh, Sepoy Bijendra and Sepoy Ajay, who made supreme sacrifice during anti-terror operation in Doda.

Northern Army Commander, GOC White Knight Corps, Director General of Police (DGP), ADGP Jammu, Divisional Commissioner Jammu also paid homage to the personnel killed in action.

“I salute the brave warriors who displayed exemplary courage and made supreme sacrifice for the nation. The nation will never forget the sacrifice made by the gallant heroes. The entire nation stands firmly with the families of martyrs in this hour of grief,” the Lieutenant Governor said, after paying homage to fallen soldiers.

Earlier, LG Sinha took to ‘X’ to condemn the terrorist attack on security forces in Doda district, to pay tributes to slain soldiers and share his condolences to the bereaved families.

“I am deeply anguished to learn about the cowardly attack on our Army soldiers and JKP personnel in Doda district. Tributes to brave soldiers who made supreme sacrifice protecting our nation. My deepest condolences to members of the bereaved families,” he posted on ‘X.’

“We will avenge the death of our soldiers & thwart the evil designs of terrorists and their associates. I call upon the people to unite in the fight against terrorism & provide us accurate information so that we can intensify anti-terror operations & neutralise the terror ecosystem,” LG Sinha’s post read.

“Solemn wreath laying ceremony at AFS, Jammu was attended by the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha; General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C) Northern Command Lt Gen Suchindra Kumar; GOC White Knight (16) Corps Lt Gen Navin Sachdeva; Director General of Police (DGP) R R Swain and ADGP Jammu Anand Jain; Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar and Deputy Commissioner Jammu Sachin Kumar Vaishya paid tributes to brave men killed in action,” said PRO Defence Lt Col Suneel Bartwal.

“We deeply regret the loss of precious lives of our four brave soldiers who have made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty. All formations of Northern Command are committed to eliminating the scourge of terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir for which the relentless operations will continue,” Lt Col Bartwal stated.

“Indian army has been conducting a series of joint and coordinated operations with J&K Police to eliminate foreign terrorists who have infiltrated and are moving in the upper reaches of Udhampur, Doda, Kishtwar and Bhaderwah areas and thereafter to Kashmir Valley. Similar operations are being relentlessly conducted in the Kathua area,” he said.
