Srinagar, June 20: Ladakh Legal Services Authority (LLSA) and District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Kargil, under the aegis of National Legal Services Authority (NLSA) conducted a community awareness program in District Kargil on June 19.

According to a statement issued by Secretary District Legal Services Authority Kargil, the programme was organised to raise awareness about the expanded horizon of free legal services by including within its fold the schemes for awareness of the right to free legal aid.

Justice Sanjeev Khanna, Judge Supreme Court of India and Executive Chairman NLSA was the Chief Guest and Justice Tashi Rabstan Judge High Court of Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh and Executive Chairman Jammu & Kashmir Legal Services Authority was the guest of honour.

Dr Pawan Kotwal, advisor to Lt. Governor UT of Ladakh received the chief guest at the venue and also delivered the welcome address on the occasion.

During the awareness programme Justice Khanna interacted with Panel Lawyers, Para Legal Volunteers, LADCS, Lambardars, Members of Civil Societies, ICDS Anganwadi Workers, persons manning One Stop Centers, Mission Shakti and Mission Poshan Workers.

He assured that all the hardships faced by the people of Kargil in having access to free legal aid will be minimized and taken care of and ensured effective implementation of schemes of National Legal Services Authority.

Justice Tashi Rabstan, Judge High Court of Jammu and Kashmir & Ladakh appealed to the people to take full advantage of the schemes of NLSA and to fully utilize the services of Para Legal Volunteers, LADCs and Panel Lawyers.

The program was also attended by Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Shrikant Suse, Register Rules High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh Rajinder Saproo, Member Secretary J&K Legal Service Authority Amit Gupta, Member Secretary Ladakh Legal Service Authority, Spelzes Angmo, Joint Registrar Protocol High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh Abdul Bari, Mujeebur Rehman incharge SP Kargil, Munsiff Sankoo Shafeeq, Mushtaq Lone, President Bar Association Kargil and other District Officers.
