Khurshid Alam urges Govt to release employees’ salaries, contractors’ pending bills ahead of Eid

Srinagar, Mar 28: Ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr, People Democratic Party General Secretary Khurshid Alam Friday expressed concern over the non-payment of salaries to government employees, daily wagers, ICDS workers, and fair price shop dealers, as well as the pending payments to contractors.

In a statement issued here, Alam said that the delay had pushed thousands of families into financial distress, making it difficult for them to buy essentials and celebrate the festival with dignity.

He said that the delay in salary disbursement was not just an individual struggle but a blow to the entire market economy.

“When workers and employees do not receive their dues, their purchasing power declines, directly affecting local businesses, shopkeepers, and traders who rely on their spending,” Alam said.

He said that contractors who had completed government projects were still awaiting their payments, creating further financial instability.
