Kashmir's youth ready to excel in sports: Konark Suryas COO
Srinagar, Oct 17: Enakshi Priyam Srivastva, COO of Konark Suryas Odisha, emphasized the sporting potential of Kashmiri youth during a media interaction in Srinagar today. Fresh from their team's advancement to the Legends League Cricket finals, she highlighted the region's eagerness for athletic opportunities.
"Kashmiri youth are hungry for opportunities, just like in any other city in India," said Srivastva, joined by Shrey Gupta, Director of Konark Suryas Odisha. The team, owned by San Priya Group, aims to discover and nurture talent capable of competing at national and international levels.
Gupta outlined plans to expand beyond cricket into basketball, rugby, and hockey. "We're especially excited to bring opportunities to regions like Jammu and Kashmir, where the passion for sports is immense," he said.
The team's success in the Legends League, featuring stars like the Pathan brothers, Ross Taylor, and Kevin O'Brien, has already garnered strong support in Jammu and Srinagar. San Priya Group's vision includes establishing a multi-sport center of excellence in Odisha and developing sports infrastructure across tier-2 and tier-3 cities.
Looking ahead to India's 2036 Olympics bid, Srivastva expressed confidence in developing future champions. "We have 12 years to prepare. If we start now, we will have heroes ready to win medals for the country by 2036," she said.
