Earlier in his address, he spoke about the significance of the IDY.

“IDY has completed a historic journey of 10 years. In 2014, I proposed IDY in the United Nations. This proposal of India was supported by 177 countries and this was a record in itself. Since then, IDY has been creating new records,” the PM said.

“Yoga is for self and society. On the occasion of the 10th IDY, I urge everyone to make yoga a part of their daily lives,” he said and praised Srinagar.

Despite heavy rains disrupting the event scheduled to begin at 6:30 am, over 7000 people from various walks of life gathered with the PM to celebrate this special occasion.
